Tinubu Touches Down in Abuja After Official Engagements in Abu Dhabi

ABUJA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has returned to Nigeria following his participation in the 2026 Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) in the United Arab Emirates, the Presidency has confirmed. The President, who attended the global summit alongside members of his cabinet, landed in Abuja on Saturday after engaging with international partners on issues ranging from sustainable development to economic collaboration. In a statement issued by Mr Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, the trip yielded key outcomes, including the signing of a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Nigeria and the UAE. The pact is intended to deepen economic cooperation, expand bilateral trade, foster investment, and facilitate technology transfer across critical sectors such as energy, infrastructure, agriculture, mining and renewable energy. President Tinubu used his address at the summit to announce plans for a joint Nigeria–UAE INVESTOPIA forum set to hold in Lagos in February, an initiative designed to attract international investors and accelerate growth in strategic areas of the economy. The President also reaffirmed Nigeria’s ambition to mobilise up to $30 billion annually in climate and green industrial financing, emphasising the country’s commitment to energy transition reforms and efforts to broaden electricity access nationwide. This latest diplomatic engagement builds on President Tinubu’s earlier travels, which included a European tour late last year preceding the official UAE visit.
